From november to middle of december, some Embrunais cut osier (also called amarines) from willows growing near the torrents, to weave traditional baskets. As they make the piece the craftsman chooses osiers of different colours to make decorative motives. When a handle is woven on the piece it will become a basket for the harvest of fruits and vegetables or mushrooms. Without a handle the house mistress, will use it to present her fruits, her dried flower bouquet, or wool yarns. |
